Man, I was a kid the last time the Triple Crown was won. Go, Big Brown -- let's see it again! Really enjoyed that. :) Many, many years ago big chunks of my family used to meet in Louisville (because we had family there) for the Derby every year.
I know what you mean -- my dad loved racing (I was born in Kentucky, btw) and while i knew nothing about odds, favorites, and horse lineage, just watching the Derby was a thrilling adventure for me as a kid. I love that the Preakness is here in MD, and plan to go next year. After the tragedy with eight belles, (still get teary bout that) it was good to have a positive race. Can't wait for Belmont!
